In 2022, the Beyond the Meter (BTM) Working Group conducted a survey of more than 1,000 Americans. We asked questions about the BTM market and the role of their utility. The survey findings point to strong interest in BTM products and services. We also saw strong customer desire for utilities to actively support them in their BTM journey. Join us to hear the results of our survey.

Batteries have become an integral part of the electric grid, and utilities now boast battery management as one of their core competencies. A tidal wave of energy storage is expected to hit the grid in the coming years, and it’s critical that utilities understand battery pricing. To build that understanding, utilities use the industry-leading E Source Battery Cost Model to learn about the current and future states of battery pricing, negotiate battery and project costs, index materials sensitivity, design energy storage RFPs, and more. This webinar will introduce you to the model and how you can use it.

    We cover:

    • What the E Source Battery Cost Model is
    • How different types of utility decision-makers use the tool
    • Where the Battery Cost Model fits in with other products in the E Source Battery Next Service

    Speaker:

Sam Jaffe, Vice President, Battery Storage Solutions, E Source

    Who should attend:

Utility and energy storage professionals who are interested in understanding the dynamics of battery pricing. Members of the E Source Battery Next Advisory Service should also attend.

Vegetation management might be a utility’s biggest annual expense in operations and maintenance (O&M). Trees don’t stop growing, and they’re often the number-one cause of power loss across the industry. For such a costly part of your business, you can’t afford to keep doing what you’ve always done.

The time has come to take advantage of predictive data and machine learning to make smarter decisions in vegetation management. Utilities that do so will reduce O&M costs, improve reliability, minimize problems from unplanned work, and ultimately improve safety and customer satisfaction.

In this webinar we’ll discuss how data can help enhance and optimize vegetation management processes. And we’ll explain how reinvesting in other measures that improve reliability can give you the biggest bang for every vegetation management dollar you have.

    We’ll discuss:

    • How to use the data you have to improve the electric grid
    • How to optimize capital spending and O&M costs
    • How to increase safety, reliability, and resiliency

Utilities and cities are looking at their programs and operations through a diversity, equity, and inclusivity lens and are focusing on increasing energy equity across their communities. To meaningfully address energy equity, utilities must have clear definitions, goals, and metrics for equity based on their unique service territories and the communities they serve. In this follow-up to our first exchange, Integrating energy equity into your utility’s customer programs and engagement, join us to discuss how utilities define equity and the goals and metrics used to expand it. We’ll also share how E Source is using data science and ethnographic research to help utilities define and address equity in their service territories.

This is an E Source exchange. It’s an online conversation where you can share ideas on specific topics with other utility professionals. In this exchange, we’ll bring together utility peers to discuss how utilities are defining the goals of their equity initiatives and what metrics they’re using to track their progress. We encourage you to ask questions and share your experience during the event.

This exchange will cover how utilities are:

Utilities and regulators are increasingly juggling economic, environmental, and societal priorities. In some cases, cost-based regulation can conflict with achieving modern energy goals. If utilities aren’t incentivized to achieve societally beneficial goals, they’ll continue to prioritize investing in infrastructure over solutions such as distributed energy resources (DERs) or transportation electrification. In this webinar, we’ll explain how performance-based regulation (PBR) can help utilities meet these complex societal goals while delivering value to shareholders.

    You’ll learn:

    • How PBR shifts the regulatory focus toward long-term societal benefits
    • How PBR can align societal goals with a utility’s business goals
    • How some utilities are making the switch to PBR
