Pricing Options for Pedernales Electric Cooperative
Yes 4.00 Pricing Options Desktop No No 220319 No Navigation rating 4 I searched Edge for Pedernales Electric Cooperative, their homepage link showed up first. I clicked the link and landed on the homepage. I then clicked on the "Your Service" link and then I clicked on the the "Rates and Pricing" link. This took me to page that asked what kind of member I was, so I clicked on the residential member link, which took me to page that had my current rate (Flat Rate Power Cost per kWh $0.044500). It took a few clicks to find it but it was available. The residential page also had a link to review the utility's Time-of-Use Rate, so I clicked on that to see what alternatives I had to my current rate. Once I reviewed the Time-of-Use Rate page I navigated back to the Rates and Pricing page to see if I could find any other rate information. On the Rates and Pricing page I found links for time of day rates, several links around solar rates and interconnection rates. but I found the organization of these links to be somewhat scattered. I would prefer that all the rate links be placed together under one heading that specifically stated or asked about changing from current rate to other rates. They could use the same kind of questions to lead into the different rates, such as "Want to save by actively managing your power use?" I just would like them all together. While I did have to navigate around the website to discover all of the other options, they did ultimately exist and contained helpful information. 220319 Functionality rating 4 The initial search for my current utility rate was quick and easy and links worked as they should. As for being able to check for different rates, there definitely were links on the rate page to do so that took me to the right information, although it could be better streamlined if those links were listed in the same place. I think it'd be helpful to streamline the process for signing up for alternatives, some of which appeared to be challenging currently (e.g., the renewable options). 220319 Appearance rating 4 The higher level rate associated web pages retained the look and style of the overall website. This gave the pages a familiar look and made the page elements easy to understand and use. The page had a nice balance of text and color. The look and feel of the page was simple, which was helpful since there was so much information. However, some links opened pdf's that were many pages long. For example, there was a link to a pdf file titled Tariff and Business Rules for Electric Service that was 81 pages long which was a jarring experience.

220319 Relevance rating 4 I appreciated the breakout that was provided so I could tell what the overall rate was comprised of (delivery, transmission, storm surcharge). I also like that they provided other bill specific items on the rate page to allow for further exploration of the rate and the bill itself. I found Pedernales Electric Cooperative's treatment of rate information on their website very relevant to discovering my current rate and providing information about other possible rates. Including case studies on how other members benefited from the rates was helpful. I would say that the quantity of the information was there and so was quality, for the most part. I think headings and organization could be improved. All in all I came away knowing where I currently stood and what options I had in making any rate changes. 220319 You are curious to know what the current utility rate (price per unit of energy) is and you want to find out whether there are other pricing options or rates available to you. https://www.pec.coop/your-service/rates-pricing/residential-farm-ranch/
