It's quite easy to navigate to the outage map and see relevant information on current outages. It's fairly easy to call a phone number to report an outage. Unfortunately there is no way to report an outage online without downloading an app or logging in.
I searched for Pedernales Electric Cooperative in Edge. The link to their home page came up first with sub-links. I clicked the Outage Map link and was taken immediately to a page where I could report an outage by phone or online via SmartHub, click a link to view a map of current outages or access a variety of linked topics about being informed, prepared and safe. However, I couldn't actually find out how to get information on when power will be restored. Areas of concern was the fact that the online option to report an outage is through SmartHub, which requires a log in, and the fact that the links to the utility's social media sites are in one of the expandable topic areas. I am not sure having to log in online to report an outage is the best scenario, as I wonder how many customers have actually signed up for SmartHub. I would think there would be access to an in page form one could fill out without having to log in. If I didn't sign up for SmartHub, I would only have the option of calling, which could end up being a frustrating situation if I am placed in a queue during an outage event. I also would like to see social media sites at least moved out of the expandable topic area into the sidebar. And I would like a live feed of those social media sites to accompany the links, so even if I don't subscribe to the specific social media site, I could still see their content. 220315 You're experiencing a power outage or gas leak and want to contact your utility to report the situation. You also need to find out when to expect your power or gas service to be restored once you report the outage. Attempt this via a computer.
